"A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls!"(1)
The protagonist is Mrs.Bennet because her main priority is to get her daughters married to a wealthy man.The purpose of Mrs.Bennet's eager to get her daughters married is because she wanted her daughters to have financial stability somewhere else in case of their father's death. She wanted nothing but the best for her daughters.
Eagerness. I never though of Mrs. Bennent this way, I only saw her as wanting more wealth. I'm happy that you wrote your post the way you did. Wonderful Job :)
ReplyDeleteAs Nancy just wrote above, I did not think of Mrs. Bennet as the protagonist before. I saw her more as a conflict since she was making her daughter choose between accepting a marriage proposal with someone whom Elizabeth did not love to declining and threatening to leave her. Although wealth was what many young lady's would have looked at when searching for a gentleman, Elizabeth would have preferred to have some connection to them over all. But I do see your point of view which changes a bit my first perspective of Mrs. Bennet.
